One PMS System for Joomla Community Builder and phpbb3

I am looking for some feeback on how site developers are managing private messaging across Joomla and phpbb3. I ussually install Joomla, Community Builder and a message system such as UddeIM. The combo works very well. Most of my sites used Fireboard and I had 1 PMS system for the entire site. With the new Rockettheme templates phpbb3 with all its features is great but I know it has it's own PMS system. Is there a way to use say UddeIM for phpbb3 as well or use forwarding somehow. I am looking for some feedback on using one PMS system. Any ideas?

- I can tell that you are able to turn of the phpbb3 pms system. What you may consider is adding links and buttons for these links to one of the other pms systems within the phpbb3 styles. I don't know how these links are generated, but that is an option you may want to consider if you want to use phpbb3 with another pms system, it takes some coding and style editing, but I am pretty sure it can be done.

- to be honest .. im disappointed at rokbridge .. it lacks a lot of options and it hasn't been updated for along time ... i think it should support cb and jomsocial at least .. we need such things, specially after releasing the phpbb club which is based on that component ... the component needs an update so its quality/options would match the quality of those templates

My guess is that you never check the SVN on joomlacode. It was last updated three or four days ago. Andy Miller furthermore posted some updated code on rocketwerx (a week ago).
CB and jomsocial are joomla components/mods/plugins, they are already supported by joomla. So, what kind of support did you have in mind. If you mean in terms of templates, I understand, I would like to see a CB or jomsocial template too.
I have used the latest version of the code from the SVN and I am very impressed with the quality, but well that is still beta version and use at your own risk :cheesy:

being honest again * i didnt check the svn latley
so my bad .. 
but when i say support cb and jomsocial i mean the following ..
1- make the profile in phpbb links to cb or jomsocia profilesl ..
2- one pm system
3- one signature
.. etc ..

Lol,
I understand, but that is not the goal of the bridge :cheesy: Goal was bridge between Joomla and phpbb3.
However, I've been looking at options the other way around. Going to make a setup with jomsocial and see what can be done in terms of using phpbb3 avatars in jomsocial, the other way it should be possible too.
The thing is, it is all possible :cheesy: I think you have not realized the potential of the bridge yet. If you think about it, you'll realize that.

Hi,
I think the best solution (maybe the easiest too), will be to make a plugin for Community Builder, what shows up the latest incoming and outgoing messages.
There are some plugins for Joomla showing up things from phpbb3-db; So I think a plugin like that would solve a lot troubles and would be very usefull.
Maybe a few buttons with the links to the phpbb3 PMS system to make the solution more useable for the users. - Last Edit: 15 years 9 months ago by Konditorei Haderer GmbH.

Like it has been said before RokBridge was not intended to be a "all in one" type solution for bridging everything. The focus was phpbb3/Joomla and to be light weight for performance.
As RokBridge evolves so will the features. - Magento - phpBB3 - Kunena - RokBridge Specialist

There are several forum posts at Joomlapolis too about the pm use of phpbb3. A plugin-solution for CB is not available.

Not any phpbb3-pm-plugin and no tab-plugin for cb.
I would give a donation on a simple tab-plugin for Community Builder; think others too!

and thats why( sorry but we have high exceptions when it comes to rockettheme
) we have this idea that u guys are working on those plugins .. specially after launching the phpbb template club .. which should motivate u to get the bridge as perfect as possible .. joomla is all about components and plugins working together ..
