Page Specific Passwords and Hiding Image locations

Posted 16 years 4 months ago
    • Can anyone point me to some information...?

I will need to have pages where I can place customer logos and other information that they can log in to and approve/disapprove. I want to be able to create the page, and then send the customer their individual login and password so only they can view the page.

Also, I know "hacker's" can find their way around things (cause I can  ), but does anyone know a good easy way to "cover" a picture so the average user can't just right click and download it or open it in another window or save it...?

I use a watermark when I don't want people downloading original images. I usually just set up a semi-transparent image in fireworks or photoshop and then just drag and drop on all my pictures.

This helps too because anything showing on the screen can always be captured by a screenshot and saved that way.

Thats a good point. I am using watermarks too. There are a lot of easy tutorials on how to do that with different programs. Google helps.

    • Tried the "Silent No Right Click" - works like a charm! That's exactly what I was looking for - thanks so much!

I already knew about the screen shot - but with password protected pages, it's fine if a client with special access (who's already paid me) wants to "steal" their own image (if they know how). I just wanted to make it slightly harder for the average user who may be browsing my portfolio, for example. I do know how to do the watermark - just hadn't decided what to do yet...

I can't wait to try the password thing! Thanks
