    Photo Gallery for a module?

Posted 15 years 10 months ago
    • Ok, so I love Simple Image Gallery (SIG). It's free, easy to use, you can place your gallery in an article by using {gallery}imagelink{/gallery}, and you can just upload your images to your folder and hit refresh, and all the images are added.

But the downside is that you apparently can only use it in content items.

My problem is, I want to be able to use, it, or something similar to it in a Custom HTML Module. I have different pages I want to put different image galleries, with my own Header and text. But it needs to look very similar to SIG, as I am already using that elsewhere in the site.

      Any suggestions?

    • Is that what that is? I guess I didn't realize. I am pretty new to this whole thing.

    • I'm sorry, I must be brain dead this morning. I knew about that, as I am already using it on the front page. But I am not looking for a sideshow, but for a image gallery, where the user can click on an image, and it brings it up in a larger box.

    • Yeah, I downloaded Phoca, but haven't installed it yet.
The problem with a lot of them I've seen at joomla.org, is that they can't be added to the middle of an article. You have to upload them with the program each time you want to add more photos, not just upload them to a folder on the server and the program takes care of it. Plus they add all this extra crap. When I click, I just want the picture to come up, no words, no icons, nothing.

Phoca gallery, according to the demo, has a lot of crap that shows up.

    • Hi JEM,
I have downloaded and installed Phoca Gallery. How do I get it into a module?
It looks like the only option I have at the moment is to create an article, and then link a menu item to that article. Perhaps I am missing something.

Here's what i am looking to do, to hopefully help you guys better understand.

      Go to:
      cgsart.com/v5.0

      Click Services>>Logo Design

On the very right, you will see a module in location "Right" that clearly explains what I am looking for.

I hope this helps clear things up a bit.

I've never used phoca that way before but I think I understand what you want to do.

If you just want one image in the module and have it open in a shadowbox, then you should use RokBox.

The way I've used phoca is similar to what you said, I place one image in a module and link it to the gallery.

There may be a 'better way' using phoca, you may want to check their plugins or support forum.

    • Thanks for the repy guys,
The problem is, I want the module to be the gallery. More than one photo in it. I don't want them, to have to go to a whole different section to see the portfolio images for that content section.

I haven't had a chance to look into Rokbox yet, but I will.

Funny thing, no matter what type of website I am doing, I am always wanting to do something that no one has ever done before.
