Joomla 1.5.9 cache!!

I'm having problems with a Joomla install version 1.5.9 I've updated my images but the old images are still shown!
I've disabled the cache, enabled the cache, cleaned the cache.... done everything with the cache but my page still loads the old images... I've cleared my browser cache, tried on another computer, another browser, another life!!! Pulling my hair out with this one, has anyone got any ideas other than throwing my computer through the window?

did you check in the directory path also if you have the right images uploaded which needs to be shown
other way:
how did you upload the images - Quick tips::
1) Clear your browser cache if changes dont reflect
2) Provide link to your site to help us help you better
3) Use in firebug

I know it might sound like I'm telling you to suck eggs here - but I've done this myself on occasion ...
Have you triple-checked that you uploaded the right images to the right directory? - Ragdata's Rubber Duck

Checked, double checked and triple checked.... correct images just wrong files showing!
I'm just going to try one last thing before I admit defeat, I'm going to download the images from my FTP server to ensure everything is ok there I mean I have checked that the images have uploaded ok but did they actually overwrite the old files? Then i'll delete the old files and try uploading to an empty directory failing that I'll thank Prim and hand him the keys!
I have searched the net regarding this problem and it looks like a number of people are having the same issue after upgrading to 1.5.9

OK this one is very strange.
I checked the actual images on the server, they were 100% correct, I deleted these images and uploaded a fresh copy... checked in browser showing old images, tried another computer same thing! deleted images on server now now images for the request from browser, opened in browser no images (as you would expect) uploaded images to server... hey presto new images shown! So now it's working but what a long winded way :shock:
