Well everyone I decided to give WordPress a shot an I love it. I've gotten to really focus on my writing with word press as opposed to getting too caught up in developing and building a massive website. I do miss many aspects of Joomla and will always use it for full websites I'm building, but I got to admit WordPress is much better for blogging than Joomla is, one reason is its sheer simplicity.
For those of you who are interested I used to have a submission in the members only section about how to optimize Joomla templates. I have transformed it into an article that will teach you how to optimize and compress any template for any cms!

- I just got turned on to WordPress myself the past few weeks. I agree it's really nice. Super easy to use and customize. However, it is not nearly as robust as Joomla. For my clients that only require a very minimal site, I'll probably recommend WordPress. But for a full blown site, I'm sticking to Joomla.
