Can't delete folders

- I have just had to delete all the joomla files out of a main directory. however the administrator folder, plus some folders inside are still in the directory and I cannot seem the up-to-date version of filezilla. discussion is newer than the one I have been using for the last year or so. When I couldn't delete folders before it used to be because there was a .htaccess within the folders. I used to use view hidden files, or something like that to delete these. But in this new version of files in there, that doesn't seem to be available. How can I delete these folders out of that directory?

- managed to delete in the end, don't know why it wouldn't do it on the first few attempts
