    I've switched

Posted 16 years 1 month ago
    • You may, or may not know, that I have been an avid mozilla user for years. I was a beta-tester for the Mozilla Firebird browser (a pre-formation of Firefox); so, I have been adequately pleased over the years with FF. Now, I have switched over to using Safari for Windows solely.

Firefox was a light-year jump over Internet Explorer (any version). Safari is equally superior in relation to FF. Safari is "lightning-Fast" right out-of-the-box and leaves no ports "open" or "exposed." All this and it remains VERY intuitive!

At first, I was skeptical of Apple's dedication to providing a "quality-product" for PC's. But I have really developed a kind-ship to safari and it's security/performance.

I use a FREE-WARE program to monitor my ports called A-Ports (active-ports). I have noticed that no-ports are left open or exposed while using Safari. You can read about this and download it from CNET.com's website here: http://download.cnet.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=Active+Ports&searchtype=downloads

This is a port-scanner. Please be aware that most security software packs will flag it as a security-risk (because ALL port-scanners are automatically flagged). I can assure you, I have used it for years and it is completely safe.

Safari has become a "major-player" in the PC browser market and I believe it to be the most superior browser available on any platform.

I encourage everyone to give Safari a try! I believe that you will find it as enjoyable and intuitive as I do!

Here's a link to Apple's website where the latest version of Safari can be downloaded for free: http://www.apple.com/safari/

      Good luck and happy surfing!

    • I have been recently contacted by Google to beta-test their entry into the Browser-Market. Google Chrome version-????. They are supposed to send me some beta-versions of the current projects. I don't know what the non-disclosure agreement will prevent me from discussing, but I will report back with any news after I get involved.

    • I have a little bad news to report... the past 24hrs I have been trying to install several ad-block plug-ins for safari. None of them work.

This is really disappointing, because I was so excited about the Safari browser . Although I enjoy the page-loads with safari, I just cannot accept the inability to BLOCK-AD scripts. This is a giant-step-backwards, in my opinion! Especially the flashing banners and annoying midi-scripts designed to catch your attention.

This is sad because it is really the only thing I dislike about Safari.

I will have to hope that they come out with a solution and restore my hope and optimism.

    • Ok, I am back using FireFox.I uninstalled Safari, so I wouldn't be tempted to start messing around with it again. I feel like I cheated on my wife and she accepted me back. FF has always been my first-love.
