    Changing Template On Localhost First

    • Hi guys,

      Not sure if this is possible so thought I would ask before I roll up my sleeves and get to work.

      Solar Sentinel is the template I've been waiting for, so I want to switch my site template. Obviously when there's a template change it takes a while to adjust everything to look and work right. So I thought this idea would be a great shortcut that would minimise downtime for the live site.

      1) Change template and modify site on localhost - with Joomlapack copy

      2) Use Joomlapack to back up the newly modified localhost version.

      3) Upload Joomlapack Zip Copy to live site and restore.

      4) Voila! The live site now has the new template and has been modified to suit.

      So is this a fantasy or would it work?

    • You've got it right....

      By far the best way to go, you can eliminate the panic of developing in a live site while you get things sorted.

    • Yeah, and if you run into a problem, you can always upload from the localhost to a sub directory of your site and let us take a look.

      The live site upgrade is finished and went exactly according to plan, and without a hitch.
