Share user database between J1.5 & Dupral

Can someone point me in the right direction on this one:
I have a j1.5 teacher union site and the union have just purchased the rights to give all members access to a third party teacher resource system which is run with dupral on another server. The other site is have a custom interface and database set up for our users only. In effect, my userdatabase needs to control the other site's userdatabase and members who log into my site, need to be able to (via a menu link) get automatic access to the other site without entering username and password again. Also, if a user updates their details (email) on my site, this change needs to be refelcted on the dupral site.
Is there aan easy way to do this? I've been looking at openid but am not thinking that is the answer.

Well, if you can't find some solution on joomla.org or the JED, you may be looking at the need for a custom coded solution.
In that case, you should consider posting here in The Market Place, or on a site like Joomlancers, or Rent-A-Coder. - Thanks,
