- I could be totally wrong here, but I don't think you get a cpanel with the package I have got with DreamHost. I have with siteground, and Rochen but I haven't got to delete any files from those servers.I will have another look through DreamHost, some other stuff on there is hidden and not very easy to find.

- I feel like a bit of an idiot, it was under my nose all the time.however, each domain on DreamHost hosting has its own FT where you can delete everything really quickly, rather than having to wait half an hour in Smart FTP.

I don't know about different hosting packages and CPanels, so I can only comment from experience.
But deleting a Joomla directory through FTP usually takes 20-30 minutes as it goes through all the directories and files.
Deleting through the CP only takes a few seconds.... - Thanks,

Takes ages Smart FTP. Like you said, only took less than a minute via the actual DreamHost website.
However, come across another problem. I had quite a few domains that I have deleted, but the files were still on the server, so I can't actually access the files like I did with the one I have just deleted. DreamHost support is pretty good, I have contacted them and they normally get back to you fairly quickly. No problem, Penn.....
I was speaking from experience myself.
One time I had to install Joomla a number of times before it would work and went crazy in the beginning because it took longer to delete than it did to upload through FTP.
CPanel is your friend!!

I managed to find anything I need it now. I can access all my files on the server throughDreamHost. I just deleted about 25 directories in one go. I reckon that would take me two days via Smart FTP
I just don't think the layout is very good in DreamHost, you have to go hunting for things if you don't actually know where they are - http://www.Oscarfishlover.com - the website for great Oscar Fish advice and help

Just been looking at Gator. looks quite impressive. I got reseller hosting with Rochen and I think they're really good, apart from a couple of unfriendly people on the forum
Gator doesn't mention anything about Joomla though. I'm sort of drawn towards hosting companies that make it known that they fully support Joomla.
