    Multi-site cloning

Posted 18 years 3 months ago
    • Hello there
I have a website in three languages (I do not want to use JoomFish, I prefer 3 different installations (I do not use member registration).
Now, setting up the site with all the modules, pages, it is quite a long job, I've almost finished to conver my existing time to the Sporticus template, but only for one of my languages.
I would lile to know if it is possible to "clone" an existing site and use to create a clone site in another subdirectory.
I mean, when I am done setting up menus, content pages, categories, sections, frontpage for the english site, I would like to use to use it to create a clone ( but different installation) in a subdirectory so that then I just have to translate the contents to finish, without having to set up again all the module options, positions, menus and so on.

my site will have three joomla installations:
      mysite.com/ (english site)
      mysite.com/es (spanish site)
      mysite.com /it (italian site).

I hope someone will be so polite to explain me if there is a way and which are the steps I have to follow.

      thanks ;D

      Paolo

    • As I plan to do this just one time I would prefer not do have to pay for this... ;D
Besides I prefer not to twist the Joomla installation for update reasons too..

    • If it was me, I'd pay the $50 since my time spent manually cloning the site would be worth more than that.

      Just my $0.02.

      Best of luck!

      Probably you are right :(
I just did not think it was a long procedure to do it manually.

    • Do you have three different databases or one? You could always use ftp, download your site to your local system than upload to whatever folder you want.
