Firebug - How to save?

  • Firebug - How to save?

    • Hello

I have just started to use Firebug and I'm liking it

It will sure stop me having to ask silly questions about where something is :-)

The only thing is though is once I make a change in Firebug and like magic, it changes on the live site, how do I save the change ?

      Thanks

    • There isn't a facility to save in the manner you may be thinking. Depending on the situation, you are going to have to copy and paste, just as CSS changes.

However, when dealing with Joomla, it has no way to know that *such and such* is coming from this module and what to edit, that is just impossible.

James if i understand you correctly there is now way to identify the file that i have to chance in Joomla, or the template after i made the chances with firebug and copy them.

This is my main problem with firebug i know how to edit the file in firebug to make chances to an template or to joomla itself. But after that i can't find the file to edit on my server/xamp install.

      Appie

      Look at the screen shot.

Let's say you want to edit the dimensions of your logo....

I right clicked on the logo, then clicked on 'Inspect Elements'.

Look at the Style window on the right, you can see that FireBug shows the file name and line number 'template.css (line 44)'.

Once you've got that info you can edit the proper file on your site.

You could change the height and width to match the size for your new logo.

    • JEM,

Thanks for the fast answer JEM, but i guess i am not clear enough of my problem.
The editing of the css files are no problem they are easy to find. but i am referring to for example the index.php file or similar.

Example i would like to chance the logo in the screensot proided to an .png (transpericy) file so i have to edit the source code from that file to do that.
But i don't know in with file this line of code is so i can't make the necessary chances to it
Now i have just made an different joomla_logo_black.jpg image, with the same name but different image.
So now i have done only half from what i want.

Hope i made things more clearly now.
