  • Where can my users enter their full name in Joomla?

    • I run a phpBB3 forum now, but I`m working on a new Joomla-page. On this page I want to have some ads where my users can sell their drumset and/or accessories. Now, in phpbb3, they have only provided a username, but when using the ads I want to be able to show thir full name. Is there a place where they can enter their name (in Joomla) so that I don`t have to do it manually backend?

      Or do I need a component like Community Builder to be able to do this?

      My new page will be running jFusion as a bridge between Joomla and phpbb3.

    • There are several 3rd party components that allow for customizing registrations fields for Joomla registration.

      Take a look on the JED, or as you mentioned, consider using CB.

    • But does it mean that I have to install i.e CB for this? A pretty heavy component for something that easy...

      But the problem is not really more fields in Joomla-registration, problem is that my 1100 users of phpBB has to enter their real name somewhere.

    • No, absolute not, you don't have to install CB to get things to work, it's simply an option if you can't find a component that will do what you want.

      (I haven't worked with phpBB3 for a while but if I recall correctly you can add fields without using any modifications. Again, it's been a while, so I can't say for sure.)

      If the problem is adding fields to the phpBB3 registration, since adding fields to the registration in Joomla or phpBB3 is part of the Joomla or pbpBB3 core and not the templates or styles themselves, while you are waiting for a response here, I suggest trying to search or post on the phpBB3 forum.

    • I know I can use customized fields in phpBB, but I don`t think it is possible to get Joomla to catch this. Well, not that I have found while googeling.

      So again, the problem is not really to be able to enter name for the new users, problem is that I have 1100 users that need to set this, ;)

      But I`ll keep searching. :)
