collapse content area on frontpage

I thought I've seen a solution to this issue in here but I just can't find it .please excust!
I decided to skip posting content items on com_frontpage . thus would like to prevent this narrow white space to being displayed. only how?
could somebody please help me out?

frontpage/ home should only have stuff in module positions but nothing in content area.
what exactly are you suggesting? I don't understand

only thats totally not a solution since its the contrary to what I'm aiming.at
neither a module in an article that is assigned to frontpage nor any other article published on frontpage. instead I would like to remove the remaining white space that shows up if no article is assigned to being displayed on frontpage

- Depends which template you're using. A couple of templates will allow you to disable the front page component so it doesn't show. You can definitely do it in Mynxx , and also I think the latest template, & may be the August addition as well. Just go to the template manager and edit and it will be in the settings somewhere. But I know is only on a few templates

- I'm using Versatility III and am pretty sure that template doesn't come with such a functinality
