- I'm new to this and was wondering that if i install phpbb3, it is a stand alone (meaning it'll just be a link on joomla and once click it'll pretend to be there when it's a new directory) or an integration within Joomla itself? lmk.

It's not an integration like Kunena, or Agora and certainly not as easy or straightforward to install. Someone else will probably be able to explain in more detail, however they have created some software that enables you to have both the forum and Joomla on the same database if you wish, and it makes it easier to integrate the two applications, but to make them look like the part of the same family, you will need to join the PHPBB3 club and use the appropriate templates.
