PHPbb versus Joomla Forums

Okay, so I am setting up my site and trying to figure out what to do for my forums. I know RocketThemes does RokBridge for PHPbb, and it looks great, but I am looking for a little non-biased advice. Do I really need PHPbb and is it worth it, or do any of you have good experiences with the Joomla native forums and if so which one do you recommend?
My skills are moderate, so please take that into consideration and also the forums will be important, but I don't need a lot of extra features for the forums - just a good forum that will be used a lot.

Ok, so I tried the PHPbb and when I tried to "install" the RokBridge, Step 2 on the instructions, I get the following error:

What is this all about? Any help would be appreciated. I did go into the folder and did not see the file listed on line 52 of helper.php (which I also looked at). I think I do want to use RokBridge, but not if it is going to require me to fix a lot of problems. Any suggestions?
