    Other Theme Clubs

Posted 18 years 1 month ago
    • Is it alright to talk about other clubs here? (I won't post links)

Not to slam them or make fun of them, but to ask if anyone else had an experience with them? I love RT and will always be a member, but I'm also a member at another club.

Reason I ask is one of the new clubs that just popped up has a few very unique templates. one of them would fit great on a site of mine. But looking at the club site, I'm afraid of it.

No public forum, so no place to ask questions before joining.
No documentation. The templates in the demo are complex, no docs, nothing but a showcase.
No graphics. They claim they will in the future.
Unclear FAQ. It's clear you can only use one template under the basic plan, but it doesn't say if you can access all of the club templates.
No free templates. I like free templates only to see if the author knows what they are doing. The quality of the free one can tell you a great deal about the club.

But they do have a couple real nice demo's. I'm just afraid of all of the red flags. There's so many of these popping up now, just don't know where to ask about them. Is it ok here?

    • I would not see why not, i was talking about Joomlart ina previous post.

As you have said, there are many red flags, but as i am a naive person, i would say theres no problem but it depends on the price

    • There are no theme clubs... only Rhuk.... (Said in a very Sigourney Weaver voice from Ghostbusters)

But seriously. That does seem like a few too many red flags for me.

    • I think you're probably spolied by RTTC and it's level of support - not just from Andy & Kevin, but by from other members who are also happy to help. I think that's probably unmatched anywhere else. Even JA's support forum is pitiful in comparison.

For this new club, I guess it's all down to how much it costs and if it's worth the risk if its crap. I'm intrigued though...can you PM me a link?

I had a look the JA forum, its just as extensive as RT but it lacks that life which these forums have. Also, in regards to JA, i found that their templates are all relatively the same in structure and design, great templates, but nevertheless, repetivite and sticking to the default in my opinion.

Joomla Junkie had some great templates which had a cartoony feel which i thought was cool but its not a template club which is a real turn off.

Templateplazza is another good template club, its templates, to me, have that cartoony feel as well which can also look cool.

I had a look at some others but non compared to the above mentioned.

I believe there is only one other club which has the professional style of RT and that is JA but it lacks that life, uniqueness and style of RT.

And the most important thing, do these clubs have a "Webisode" .... i think not
