RokCandy fails to execute in Intro of article

    • This issue is admittedly not likely widely applicable and probably only applies to our site. RokCandy works everywhere and is an indespensible tool for us. Our issue is getting it to work inside of AcyMailing's emailed newsletter.
Acy has sort of run out of suggestions like making sure the prepare content option is on and some things specific to their component are set correctly. So, I'm hoping you can offer some insight as to what is causing the difficulty we are running into.
Our users create front end articles in Community Builder' Blog which creates normal every day Joomla articles. We have a component we use to display RSS feeds in the newsletter from Tabulizer that works great.
Because of a problem with another component which will wrap the URL in <a> tags that break the syntax of tabulizer, we said "Aha, RokCandy is the solution!" Easy to avoid the problem and makes it dirt simple for end users. And it works great but we can't get the replacement to "fire" in AcyMailing for some reason.
We've moved RokCandy to the first position in the plugins and still no luck. Perhaps you have some insights that will help us figure out a solutiion.
      Thanks for any help.

    • why not just edit that other plugin and remove the <a> tags that it wants to wrap the thing with? you can override any file in Joomla pretty easy from your template root... if the "other" component is the actual Editor then that won't be an easy task... but if it's a simpler module/extension/component find the offending code and removing it might not be too hard... perhaps the component author can assist even.

      I don't know a lick about AcyMailing...

where exactly are you putting the RokCandy macro code? In an Article body? Inside of Acy somewhere? RokCandy was really only designed to be used in Joomla core components like Articles and Modules... especially in their respective Title fields where you can't natively put HTML

    • Hi Matt,
Thanks for the amazingly fast response. I sure understand your point on not knowing AcyMailing and it'd be unreasonable to think you'd know about the internals of that (it'd been great if you had....) but we never expected it.
The component causing the mischief is OSEmbed, generally, it's a swiss army knife for adding about any external source to a site and we use it as it makes what an end user needs to know little but the URL to a feed.
However, it's seeing the tag we use as something it needs to handle and it causes the problem as it tries to handle that.
We have been in contact with them and they agree a solution needs to be added to resolve the problem... I'm sure it will be but until then, we're working on a workaround.
The RokCandy code is placed in a normal article in the Intro section and in the body of the article (below the read more).
It works in the body (it is on the website) but not in the intro section which AcyMaling is displaying in the email newsletter version.
You've given us an idea of what to try perhaps by looking for a way to disable the offending code in OSEmbed. Like I said, it's a complicated problem involving three different components... so thanks for your input, we'll keep working the problem.
Many thanks for a quick response and your help.

    • If ACYMailing is disabled, then does the RokCandy macro work in the Article's Intro section? If so, all I can suggest is to try disabling all Joomla System caching and any 3rd party caching plugins you may have installed.... and clear out any existing caches... then retest.

Not to get yet another component involved but JUMI is similar to RokCandy in many regards... though it was primarily written with including PHP code in Joomla articles/modules it'll similarly work like a shortcode/macro replacer with HTML code or whatever else you want to load in the JUMI instances. Not sure if it'll work for you but could be worth a shot
