Need to keep middle of template from shrinking as browser window narrows

I'm using Gantry 5, Hydrogen template, and Joomla 3.51.
On a large screen, the outer sides of my template are basically unused border. As the browser windows narrows, I would like to maintain the middle section full size, and let the outer sides disappear off screen, before the midddle begins to shrink. Thanks, Damir. I worked through each of the Hydrogen template header section layout options. Each had no effect on my objective, or they made it worse in that the images separated, e.g. as in the Full Width (Flush Content) layout option.
The Kraken template might be a good model in that is has fixed width sidebar as the browser window narrows. Am I right in that Kraken does it with section called Fixed Side? Perhaps I can do something similar, only make a middle section fixed width until the side borders are narrowed out of sight. Is that a good approach? Also, it would be useful to see the CCS for two Kracken classes, g-fixedside-logo and g-logo-alt. The CSS could serve as a model for what I might need for my middle section.
