Link in the Simple Content particle leading content?

I noticed it doesn't seem possible to put a link in the leading content area of the Simple Content particle. Is there a way to modify this particle to allow linking within this content?
EDIT: Apparently this is related to the Citadel template and putting the Simple Content particle on top of a background, which causes the links to no longer function. I will post the question in the template forum instead. - Last Edit: 8 years 6 months ago by Kingsley.
