Anyone working on or Know of any projects that are trying to integrate Joomla / RT and Zen Cart? Theme Integration, user/ account/ products integration?
I'm keen as mustard to cut my teeth on some of this type of work, I need it for myself, so am more then happy to contribute when I can.

Zen-Cart has been dragging out their release of their completely re-written system for well over a year now...maybe two, so that has made it very hard to get developers on board to write a bridge that is followed and works really well.
I would personally stay away from trying to integrate various larger systems as it gets difficult to track security issues. One thing that had been built into Zen-Cart for some time is a capability to work with phpBB3 and RT does offer themes for phpBB3. It would take a fair amount of work, but it could be ported over if needed.

Thanks Ben,
Zen Cart is dragging their heels on the next release, so I will have to wait I guess, in the meantime, I will just focus my attention on the minimalist stuff I need, user integration and products the theme will just have to sit on the back burner until I can get my functional side running then aesthetics can come into play.
The triple Port, looks like a headache, I'm not quite ready for that much self abuse.

I'm no suggesting a triple port. I'm saying that maybe you could get the same thing out of phpBB3 as you would from Joomla, but that depends on what you need it for.
phpBB3 can be very usable and more than just a forum. I'd have to go back and look at how much user integration there is between it and zen-cart though. I just suggested it because having user integration included and wrestling with displaying content would be a more winnable fight for myself than going the other way around.
And yeah, dragging their feet is one way to put it. I wish it was coming out quicker as I like that for a shopping cart solution myself. Getting anxious!

I misread your response, my apologies Ben.
I found a partial solution from http://jvitals.com/en/paid-extensions/commercial-extentions JZen complete it seems to do the job quite nicely.
Now I can dig my heels into attempting a theming solution between zen & joomla/rt.
