User variables in wrapper

Hi
I'm wanting to setup a variable/field against each user (for example user 1 is abc, and user 2 is def) and then have a menu wrapper item which when called would include that variable/field, for example, somedomain.com/index.php?user=abc .
Does anyone know how I could manage this?
