Anyone have experience with the SplitMenu system

  • Anyone have experience with the SplitMenu system

    • Hi, I'm trying to get the split menu to do what I want but having trouble... When I click on a main menu item, the child items appear in the split menu in a side column no problem. But when I click on those items... some cause the the split menu to disappear. Is this a problem with re-using menu id? the child items that cause the menu to disappear are all links to content items....

I post this hear because it's a split menu issue... and doesn't relate to the template I'm using (I think :-\)

    • Hmm, okay...this looks like some kind of SEF issue. Have you tried turning it off?

You may also need to set the option for unique item ID's for each of those content links.

For example, I've enabled this on the menu item "Wireless Ethernet Bridge":

The menu link is generated as:
      67.15.157.129/content/view/17/40/

      but should be:
      67.15.157.129/content/view/17/52/

Switching between unique IDs on/off does not update the SEF URL. I don't know why that is I'm afraid!

    • Thanks for your help so far...

Would you mind checking to see if that "Wireless Ethernet Bridge" item is working for you? I cleared my cache, disabled SEF URLs and it doesn't seem to be working...

I created another "Wireless Ethernet Bridge" that link to the same content item from scratch, and assigned a "unique ID" to the content item.. still no luck..

Does this have something to do with the way Joomla 1.0.12 deals with item id's now?

    • I looked at the demo for bento box... I don't understand why it's working there but not for me.

    • I had another look and really can't figure it out. It's not splitmenu though, that's for sure - I tried the same thing with a top-level menu item and it has the same problem - the link simply does not reflect what is in the administrator. Very, very weird.

    • Could it have something to do with the fact the site is on a temporary URL? the config.php file is set up correctly... I think.
