Interesting Internet Explorer behavior

    • Downloaded and installed the Hybrid template.

Using IE7 and I wanted to change the class "h1.title" to small capitals (font-variant: small-caps). I went into template.css and made the necessary changes. This change was reflected when viewing the site in Safari 5.0.3 and Firefox 3.6.13. It did not change the article titles in IE7.

When searching the template-ie7.css file there are no statements affecting the article titles. On a hunch I went into the template-ie6.css file and found the proper line (#47). So I added a small caps CSS statement and saved the file. After viewing the site it is found that this makes IE7 display article titles in small caps.

Copying the line from the IE6 CSS file and then reversing out the change, I then copied the line into the IE7 CSS file. After saving the file and viewing the site in IE7 the proper results were there.

My comment is that even though I was using IE7 it would accept commands from an IE6 CSS file. Interesting learning lesson.
