- I have a challenge to create a website in English and with Chinese translation enable. User will be presented an option to choose between English and Chinese. The content is created in English. I was told that JoomFish and M17n are capable of creating a Multi-language site. The important thing is that does the JoomFish translation grammatically correct? Isn’t it a word-to-word translation? In order to have a grammatically correct Chinese translation do I have to manually create content in Chinese?

There are two types of translation components available;
Machine Translators: (E.g. Google Translate) These automatically 'translate' the site to whatever language a visitor chooses.
Translation Managers: (E.g. Joom!Fish) These allow you to manage a multilingual site by doing all the translations manually, they do not translate your site for you.

Hi JEM,
Thanks for the explanation. I have explored the links. As a final clarification, is it safe to conclude that with Translation Managers (Joom!Fish) I can produce a 100% grammatically correct translations in Chinese (or any other language for that matter) provided that my default language -- English grammer is 100% correct?

To clarify, Joom!Fish (

) is a Translation Manager, not a Machine Translator
Joom!Fish will help you manage the translation of your content not translate it for you...
With a Translation Manager, the accuracy of your content in other languages is determined by the accuracy of the translations by a human, not a machine.
So, for example, if you have a site with 10 Menus, and 50 Articles in English, you need to have all those translated into Chinese by a human then through the Translation Manager, add the content for the corresponding items one by one.
If you don't have the resources to have all of your content translated from English to Chinese (or any other language) by a human, then a Translation Manager is not for you and you are 'better off' using something like Google Translate... but as I mentioned, results in accuracy will vary. - Thanks,
