Solved: Missing XML-file... why no tutorials?

    • Hello.
I want to download the Nebulae template to my site. There is a Joomla standard template installed already - the rhuk_milkyway 1.0.2. I try to install the Nebulae (-> Extensions -> Install/uninstall -> Upload package file) but I get this error message: 'Error! Could not find a Joomla! XML setup file in the package'.
I have tried to read the many treads about the subject - that seems rather common... but I either I don't understand it or it doesn't work. And this even though it seems as this problem figures as "Solved" in the treads.

So what do I do? Can anyone come up with a precise and easy to use guide, that amatuers and morans like my self can understand? And where is RocketTheme in all this... should you not come up with an all-time-all-ways-bullit-proof-solution?
      Thank you
      Christian Bang

    • We are not Joomla.org ... we are Rockettheme. We try to our best to support newbies but we can't support everything starting from zero.

You can find basic help here:
      demo.rockettheme.com/may11/tutorials
      or
      www.rockettheme.com/joomla-tutorials
      or
      www.rockettheme.com/quicklinks/joomla

in your case I guess that you tried to install a J!1.6 template into a J!1.5 installation.
That cant work. Download the J!1.5 version of this template and install that.
If you have J!1.6 use the J!1.6 version of this template.

      I hope this helps.

"all-time-all-ways-bullit-proof-solution"? I dont know what that should be.
We already provide Rocketlauncherpackages with all the demo content, Joomla-CMS, extensions and the template ...
Not sure what you expect to be honest.
If you have further issues feel free to post in the forum.

    • Hi Christian,

Are you using the correct download? If you haven't had a Gantry based template on the site then you need the bundle version as this will load Gantry as well.

The templates install exactly the same way as any other extension. Just make sure you are pointing the original downloaded zip file.

If you still have a problem then it could be that your download was corrupted. You could always download another copy just in case.

We have the majority of instructions on each demo as well as the download area for each template. You can see installation instructions here - demo.rockettheme.com/may11/tutorials/installation

If this resolves your problem then please edit your first post in this thread by adding SOLVED at the start of the title and then select the green tick icon. This lets the moderators know that it can be moved to the solved section.

      Thanks for your cooperation :)

    • Thank you, Henning!
      Your advice helped me on:

"in your case I guess that you tried to install a J!1.6 template into a J!1.5 installation.
That cant work. Download the J!1.5 version of this template and install that.
If you have J!1.6 use the J!1.6 version of this template."

As I said: there is many reports on this topic, why I asked for a general tutorial. Now - for me - the problem is solved.
... But there is other problems, that I will fight for the coming days :-)

    • A more accurate error message would be appreciated. I was just trying to upgrade my Nebulae template from 1.5 to 1.7, not realizing I need to upgrade Joomla first. An error message to the effect of "Nebulae 1.7 template is not compatible with the version of Joomla installed on this site" would have saved me 30 minutes of frustrating search.
