JPG find by search modul / component over filename

Hi everyone,
I'm quite new with Joomla so I have maybe a simple question.
I'm making for a friend a Joomla homepage and now he has following request.
He is a mechanic and he has about 2000 jpg files for motor vehicle appearances.
My idea is now to make this files available on his homepage and then he should have the possibility over a search module to find the right jpg.
All files having a unique name and I don't wont edit, modify each file ... only simple upload.
Question: how can I set up such a function. I thought I'm using a gallery but then I have always the problem to find the right search modul, component where I can find the file with the file name.
Has someone a idea?
