3 level menu with dropdowns

- Can someone tell me if it is possible to have a 3 level menu with the top level in the navigation, 2nd level in subnavigation and 3rd level dropdown menus from the 2nd level? Do I need to create 2 separate menus, or can I accomplish this somehow with split menus? Relatively new to Joomla. Thanks for any help!
