Ok, never saw this before as long as im using J2.5
Look at the image...
2 identical versions: 2.5.3
1 site was installed before as 2.5.2 i think and updated using the update function....
The other one was a 2.5.1, that one i upgraded by clicking update..then later i noticed the difference...
From that site the update buttons dont show, and no version number..
In the configuration it shows that both are identical...
i even uploaded a new 2.5.3 to overwrite it ,but no change, empty cache etc....

hi there,
the joomla version is actually displayed through an administrator module that you can publish/unpublish etc. not sure about the update buttons but that area where those display is also part of a joomla administrator module that you can configure to your needs.

Kat, the weird thing is, i cant find whatever is wrong,different,or missing...all looks identical...

for the 2 missing buttons go to your plugin manager and enable:
Quick Icon - Joomla! Update Notification and
Quick Icon - Joomla! Extensions Updates Notification
for the joomla version number, go to your module manager, from the filter select 'admin' instead of 'site' and publish a new 'Joomla! Version Information' module.

i dont have them....
i checked other site and they have it...
