{SOLVED} Can anyone explain this?

    • I built a site using J1.5. yourmonocle.com/ab1/

I then copied the exact site to the root yourmonocle.com/

I wanted to keep /ab1/ as is but do some changes to the root site. I changed out the logo and colors, then removed the SBA logo by deactivating the module.

I then noticed it deactivated it on both sites. I reactivated it, they appeared in both places again. I had to make a couple type changes on both sites, but I only had to do it once as they appeared fixed on both sites. Now this would be fine and completely make sense, only I changed the footer in the template manager and it stayed different on both sites.

Why is it that articles and modules seem attached to both these sites but everything else is separate? Thoughts on how to fix?

    • Template config in Joomla 1.5 is stored in config file under template's folder. Everything else is stored in the database and since you are using the same database for both sites you can see the changes on both sites.

    • Thank you Igor. I was thinking that was probably it. Clearly they are using the same database but different template managers. Is it possible to duplicate a database then connect one site to one and leave the other as is in order to actually have 2 separate sites?

    • Of course it is possible. The best way to duplicate web site is to use Akeeba backup. You can also create new database, export data from old database and import it in new database. Change database connection parameters in joomla config
