SOLVED One-page style revisited, in a responsive way

Posted 12 years 5 months ago
    • Hi forum,

As I am using the latest RT responsive templates, and looking at the results on smartphones, I am now very aware that performance is a BIG issue.

Each new page load through a menu option can prove to be a problem performance-wise.

That is why I was wondering how to implement a one-page style like the Entropy template. But using one of the responsive templates of course.

      Any clues ?

      Best regards

      Eric

    • Hi Eric,

I don't see any reason why you couldn't use External Link Menu Items linking to anchors on a single page just like Entropy.

Which part did you need help with?

    • Hi Ben,

Thanks, and I never thought of it that way.

Can you give me some pointers on how to set this up ?

      Regards

      Eric

    • Sure, read this first:
      www.rockettheme.com/forum/index.php?f=48...28076&rb_v=viewtopic

You'll be able to link to any div (section) that has an id attribute. So RT templates for example have id attributes for the all the main positions: #rt-top, #rt-header, #rt-showcase, etc..

You can read more about the ID attribute here: www.w3schools.com/html/html_links.asp

    • Let me know if that makes sense. I sounded like you got the idea and a comfortable making the Menu Items. Good luck :)

I'll mark this thread solved so others will be able to find it easier.

    • Great info!

But will the links to the anchors scroll nicely like they do in Entropy?

    • Hi JJ,

You won't get that type of scrolling just by adding anchors but it's possible to add them with JavaScript. If you're interested I could collect some more information about how they achieved it on the Entropy template.
