Can Responsive Layouts work with shopping cart systems?
Is there any templates specifically for online commerce other then mercado?
I need to create a website for a herb and spice wholesale store.
Currently they use virtuemart but complain of too many limitations.
I am considering testing "MijoShop" joomla extension.
Any advice greatly appreciated...

The only problem you would possibly have is when the template starts responding to smaller browsers window sizes, the shopping cart (or elements of it) will remain the same size and might spill outside the edges of the template.
Shopping carts are different than an extension like VirtueMart which is runs an entire eStore on a Joomla site. VM is not responsive and you will absolutely will have issues with VM pages, descriptions, and images spilling out of the smaller template dimensions.
Others in the RT community might have ideas for responsive eStores solutions though.

I haven't used one in a project yet, but I did find several responsive opencart templates that are supposed to work in MijoShop. I did a search for responsive opencart templates. This is the way I plan to go with future ecommerce projects.
There is one responsive virtuemart template made by another joomla template developer that I'm aware of.

Hi Cat,
I don't remember what template I used, I ended up dropping it because the client needed a more complicated conditional checkout system. If it wasn't for that I probably would have done more with MijoShop.
