Most existing ecommerce extensions can be used with our templates but there will always be a level of difference between the extension styling and the template styling. Often this can be resolved by using override templates for the extensions.
Which ecommerce/catalog package do you intend to use?

It will depend on the types of product. If you have to have lots of options such as colour, size, material, or similar types of options then Virtuemart can be quite hard, especially if you need stock control.
Hikashop is a paid for product but works quite well. It still isn't fully responsive yet so can cause extra work with styling and layout.
There is also ECWID but I haven't used that so I cannot comment on how well it works or not.
Hope this helps

I can comment on Ecwid. It's great. Especially if you're wanting something for clients to use - very simple.
The only draw back with Ecwid is that as of right now it is not responsive.
One of the RT members figured out a work around on this whereby you embed the individual product into an article or K2 Item. Bit tedious though.
If you're very familiar with K2 you may find K2 Store to your liking. Visit k2store.org for that. It's a simple cart that plugs into your K2 Item. This way you use your Item Image for the product image, Body Content is your product description, etc... I like it, but I use K2 for everything.
At this stage in the game I don't recommend Virtuemart. Tienda was a massive flop, and I don't think it's even out in 2.5 yet.
I hear really great things about Redshop, but it looked a bit complex so I never tried it.
Just to sum up, if you're looking for RocketTheme integration, Ecwid and K2Store are great.
K2 Store is good because RT extensions work with K2.
Ecwid is great because it's just embed code.
Until redSHOP 2 is out I would avoid it as much as Virtuemart. RedSHOP is not fully responsive and you need to do a lot of css work to get it nice. All support is via ticket too so no quick look at forum for answers
