Need some help and info. I keep getting hacked up and chewed out.

Hello,
I have a few questions and maybe someone can help me out. First off, and most importantly, my site keeps getting hacked. All of the known flaws are plugged up. Files are CHMOD'd, and the server settings are correct, and Register Globals is set to "Off".
I keep getting hacked by Russians who accuse me, and more importantly the readers, of killing babies for oil. I guess this comes by virtue of being an American, but I still don't get it. Maybe I should be thankful for that. Does anyone have any additional security measures you can recommend? This is getting rediculous.
My other problem is this. I changed the directory of my initial Joomla! installation to get rid of the gaudy splash screen. There is only one lingering problem now. My Joomla! installation doesn't see all of the components. It can only find two of them. They're still there on the server, but they don't show up in the Admin control panel. Is there something quick that I fix so that my components show up again?

If you're on a shared host, it may be that you have plugged all known security holes but that your host hasn't plugged theirs. Attacks can be performed via someone else's vulnerable site on your host.
You will need to work with your host to see where the vulnerabilities are by examining server logs etc...
As far as your other problem goes, I'm not sure what gaudy splash screen you're talking about
. Joomla doesn't come with such a thing! In any case, when you changed the directory, you surely edited the configuration.php file to reflect the new location?
