Missing Bug-Fixes while not on membership - fair?

  • Missing Bug-Fixes while not on membership - fair?

    • Hi everybody,

sometimes I feel cheated. And mostly, when I feel cheated, I ask myself if it is really so. In this special case it affects Rockettheme and I´d like to ask others, if I am just wrong in my thoughts.

Upfront: I am not somebody who is not willing to pay! I had different memberships in the last years, also a developer-membership, even if I am not a developer and only use the templates on a few own domains.

Now I run into some problems with JT-maelstrom while upgrading from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 2.5. Mostly it´s about the narrowness of h-tags.The template-settings affected other extensions: All h1, h2 and h3-tags in Virtuemart and in Easydiscuss are not readable anymore because they where far to narrow.

While the same problem exists on different extensions (Virtuemart, EasyDiscuss,...) but in the same moment disappears as soon as I switch the template, it seems logical to me that this is a bug in the template. So I placed a posting in the forum while I had an active membership. The question was really simple: How can I change this little setting in JT-maelstrom so it works togehter with other extensions.

Unfortunately I didn´t recieve an answer before my membership run out. So I posted the question again in the open forum and recieved partly answers:
I didn´t recieve an answer to my question itself (how can I change the narrowness in the template), but fixes for overrides. They did not fix all, only parts of the template. When I tried to bring it back to the original question, how I can remove the small narrowness of the whole template, I recieved this answer:
There is no single value which would allow you to change width of the template. This is explained in the forum many times and I am sorry but you will have to extend your membership to find correct answer. It really wouldn't be fair to other paying members if I would provide such an
      extensive support here now

I will move now this thread to the Maelstrom template forum so you can continue it when (and if ) you extend your membership

I totally agree that support is worth money and has to be paid. The question is: What about bugs?
In the moment I feel sad about this answer. It says, that this was explained in the forum "many times", but when I searched for it before (I always search before I post a question), I didn´t find ANY posting to that topic.

While this issue seems to be a maelstrom-issue, that affects other extensions, I personally would call it a "bug" and I also think, helping out with bugs should not be a thing for "paid support". As I said: This was not a Issue with the same settings in Joomla 1.5.

As I said: It does not feel fair to me. The original question, that I placed in my active membership, was not answered. The Issue, that from my point of view is a JT-Maelstrom-Bug is not solved. I definitely don´t worry about the money, the membership is not expensive.

For me this is a fairness-thing. And I´d like to get some feedback, if I simply expect too much and I just should pay for that?
Again: This would be totally fair for me if it would be a personal Issue! The point I feel cheated about is, that all Extensions work beautifull and the problem only comes up when I activate the RT-Template. If I´d ask for a customization or something like that, the whole payment-think would be totally different to me!

I´d be glad for some opinions. I know, that sometimes I can be very difficult and that sometimes I am really freaky in what I expect from "fairness".

      To be fair:
The pricing of Rockettheme is very, very fair. The Templates are beautifull. There are a lot of good things about RT and I really want to clear that out. If others say, I am just wrong, should pay my membership and all is okay, I will do so.

      All the best, Julian!

    • PS: Maybe something like a cheaper "Just-Forum-Access-Membership" would make sense for RT.
Without access to downloads, but with access to all the present ressources in the forum.

It seems weired to me to keep an active membership, while I don´t need any new templates. ;-)

    • PPS: In the meanwhile I renewed my membership.
But I still really like to get opinions on this issue. I would love to get rid of my feeling of being cheated on that issue. ;-)
