Hi there.
I am new to Rocket Theme and am struggling to understand the basic concept of how it all works.
The only info I have found on how to customise RT templates says it is done in the Template manager control panel.
What is the best way to customise these templates? I'm guessing you can over-ride the CSS but i'm not clear on how to do this
From looking at some of the example sites I can see that it must be possible to do a lot more than just change a few settings in the template manager control panel.
Please can somebody direct me in the right direction?

You should override css styles and definitions through css and place them in custom css file
This is how you create a custom CSS file...

When we release upgrades template files will change and you will have to reapply all your changes again (that's if you can remember where they all are). If you keep your changes in a separate Custom CSS file you'll have no issues upgrading.

Hi. Many thanks for the quick response.
One more thing. What is the general rule of thumb when using Gantry and over-rides? Can you advise on what changes I should be making using the Gantry control panel and under what circumstances am I better off using CSS over-rides?

Rule of thumb would be, as long as you can make changes in template config, do it like that. If you can't do it through css override
