    • and too hard to create content that looks good with boxes and so.

when will you start make templates that are without too much eye-waste, possible to add content in 2 columns in an article, and add the eye-mess if YOU need or want it?

add adjustable font-sizes, widths, side margins etc .

Example: RT Cerleuan ar nice, but on ipads this use too much padding on the sides.

    • Thanks for the constructive comments.

      1. most templates have mod-suffixes to create boxes or not
      2. all the latest templates have structural mod-suffixes like nopaddingall etc to control margins and paddings.
      3. gantry has an unmatched system with simple sliders to set up widths of columns and layouts.
      4. 2 columns in 1 article? Check the demo styles. Most templates have simple .css classes prepared to set up content in an article in two or more columns.
      5. RT Cerulean is a bad example in this context because the breakpoints in this template are unique. That was needed to achieve a special design. If you need the regular bootstrap-breakpoints choose a different template. They fit much better on tablets.
      6. Font sizes an already controlled via the template. We have a system of inheriting font sizes.
By the nature of things this concept can't control every aspect of a site.
So we made it as easy as possible to add custom css rules. You just need to set a up a file (following some naming conventions) and it will picked automatically – if you want even browser or platform specific.
      7. almost every template can be stripped down. Latest Oculus or Hexeris are good examples. Just take out the backgrounds and the gradients and you have very "light" looking templates.
      8. If you think some styles are missing in the RT-portfolio just post some links to sites you like in our "requests" forum.

    • thanks. Good points.

Info on the Cerulean and ipads are interesting, I have buildt and slightly changed my theme Cerulean. (medist.im) to fit my needs, but I strugle to get the content in the way I want. Also, rebuilding a new template is time-conssuming.

WHen u say take out the backgrounds etc, I normally "REM out " the images from the CSS. Is that a better way to do so?

Gonna try the last one (Oculus) now,

EDIT: as soon I can edit my Template in j3.1.1 as I get only a
0 No HTTP response code found.
      Error now.

    • I would always use custom css or less files and css specificity.
Never change one of the css or less files.

      Not sure about
0 No HTTP response code found.
      I would guess that's a corrupted installation.

Personally I would not say J!3 is ready for a production site.
