How to delete excessive styles?

How do I delete excessive styles in my templates to reduce loading time in the template manager?
I have three different templates installed of which always one style is in use. Do I have to change the templatedetails.xml as well or just delete all the styles in the directory?

- If it's already installed, you can just delete the style folders that aren't used. However, it won't make any difference to load times since unused styles aren't loaded anyway.
