error on page

i was using htaccess.txt
but when Bloggs_x gave me the code i renamed htaccess.txt to .htaaccess but now the front page went off for some reason so i renamed it back to htaccess.txt and i removed the lines but the site still off .. i think the codes caused problem so the hosting company stoped something

i cant delete it and everytime i do delete it , it comes back again
so i talked to my hosting company representive and he was like you cant delete this file its a must and it wont effect you as long as its empty so i checked it and yes its empty !!
and at the same time i checked my cp and i found this error
[Fri Dec 28 09:04:55 2007] [error] [client 66.249.73.243] mod_rewrite: maximum number of internal redirects reached. Assuming configuration error. Use 'RewriteOptions MaxRedirects' to increase the limit if neccessary.
i think it means that i have to edit the .htaccess which i supposed to be deleted it long time ago
