why is my page directory showing......

Hey.....
Maybe this is a stupid question with a simple answer but can someone tell me why my directory path shows mysite.com/index.php/any-page when it did not always show this. Im not an experienced web designer and so have no answer to this.

- It has to do with the SEF component you are using.

Right, thanks very much for the reply. Do all SEF's do this or is there one which is as straight forward but doesn't show the index.php like this.
