    Unable to take site offline

Posted 17 years 3 months ago
    • I just installed a Rocket Theme. I'm trying to take the site offline while I work on it. In the Global Configuration I click "Yes" at Site Offline. When I click Apply or Save I get this message:

      Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /administrator/index.php on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

In fact, I cannot change and save anything under Global Configurations. I can make changes elsewhere though.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    • First of all, thanks for replying.

      Damo, the configuration.php is writable.

Roland, I am logged in at www.yoursite.com/administrator . I seem to be able to change articles and such, but no luck with the Global Configurations. Although, I haven't changed a whole lot yet.

      Any other suggestions?

    • I should have asked earlier, is this J1 or J1.5?

I assume that this is a problem regardless of what template you use, if so, I suggest that you submit this query to the Joomla 1.5 forum (the forums are down right now it appears, however you can search the forums for now).
Sorry I can't be of any help, perhaps someone else here will have a solution to share.

    • So I wouldn't say this is solved, but I changed hosts (my last one had its issues). I uploaded the RocketLauncher as I have done numerous times with the other host. However, this time I was able to tak my site offline. No problem. So in all I am blaming my previous host. The worst part is that when I contacted their support for assistance all they said was to uninstall Joomla and the theme and go through Fantastico to upload Joomla. Other than that they could not help. Boo!

Thanks to those of you who tried to help me with this.
