upgrading MySQL from version 4.1 to 5.0 and PHP5

  • upgrading MySQL from version 4.1 to 5.0 and PHP5

Posted 17 years 2 months ago
    • I got this email from my host:

Following this trend to provide the most up-to-date hardware and software, we are proceeding with making PHP5 part of the standard working environment on all of our servers, as well as upgrading MySQL from version 4.1 to 5.0.

I am using RocketTheme templates with Joomla 1.0.13 on cPanel, WHM. Does anyone anticipate this upgrade will cause problems? ???

      Thanks,

    • The Joomla! core will not be a problem. 3rd party components are another story. A few things to look out for in PHP5:
      1) you can't redeclare a variable
      2) file_exists() will throw open_basedir errors if files are referenced relatively....

Post back if you have issues. I've just been trough this on a dedicated machine serving 20 or so Joomla sites...

    • I'm in the same boat with HostGator - but I don't anticipate any big problems. [fingers crossed]

Help is but a post away if need be Rick! :)
I must say, HostGator has been bulletproof since I signed up as a reseller. I will also get a reseller account at www.rochen.com when i need more space (they are the web host of the Joomla site).

    • I've never seen a mention of using RocketTheme templates for cPanel or WHM.
Is it even possible? I don't think either is even written in Joomla.

      ???

Anything is possible my friend :)
If it doesn't currently exist I will see if I can create one.
