    Local server and file permissions

Posted 17 years 2 months ago
    • Hello all..

I am sitting here trying out different local server systems to see what I like.

I noticed my folders/files in Joomla are now 777 and 666. I remember they were once 755 and 644?
In the server config area have I tried to change it all (new files and old files), but nothing changes.

I reckon it comes down to ownership of the files or something in that direction, but could someone tell me that this is normal?

The problem is showing in both WAMP and JSAS.

      Thanks for any inputs.

    • Yeah, it's probably file perms. If it works ok I wouldn't worry about it, only you have access to it so security isn't high on the agenda.

    • Oh well thanks for answering.. To be honest I think it's normal on a local install, and once transfered to a live site they turn to 775 and 644 again.

      Cheers!
