http address simplifying for buttons?

Not sure how to phrase the question :
but here goes:
Currently, when I click on the "Articles" button at the top, the address shows www.ecohomestoday.com/index.php?option=c...ection&id=1&Itemid=2 .
I'd like it simplified to www.ecohomestoday.com/articles
Similarly, when I click the "Home" button, I would like it to show just the original domain name, instead of the lengthy www.ecohomestoday.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 .
Is this possible to simplify the button addresses? ???
