    • This is a good question.

I have been looking for and trying to make work a gallery that would allow visitors to upload their content. So far after 2 weeks of c**p and monumental wastes of time, I failed.

The ones that work seem to require you to convert your entire site to revolve around the gallery.

      Here is my experience:

Galley2 - does everything x 100. Need extreme amount of time, patience, knowledge (ie. full time dedication of a month+) to just make it do simple things nicely rather than everything half arsed.

Datso 1.6 - does not work in Joomla 1.5

Expose 4.6.2 and 4.6.3 - does not work in Joomla 1.5 without first having to disable all your nice template features

Phocagallery - I could not find a way to allow users to upload files

Ponygallery - broken in Joomla 1.5. Back end does not work

So in summary, if you are running Joomla 1.5 and want to have a website that does other things besides a gallery, you are out of luck.

If anyone managed to get a gallery to work under Joomla 1.5 that allows user uploads without first having to wreck your site, PLEASE let me know.

    • Is there any gallery component which creates folder for each member? ???
I'd like to have my members uploading their pictures in their own folders.

      Thanks.

    • I am now using RSGallery2. It works in Joomla 1.5.3, but the front end looks awful. The default template is still not finished, and the other templates do not work in Joomla 1.5.3 yet. They are either broken, or give you a nice blank page. Joy.

Anyone know of a commercial gallery for Joomla 1.5.3? I am truly willing to pay for it just to get away from this gallery nightmare.

Oh, and while I am in a ranting mood, can anyone tell me what exactly is the point of Joomla 1.5? Most "web 2.0" extensions do not work properly on it.

You can find several chat components for joomla directly @ joomla.org:
      extensions.joomla.org/component/option,c...t_id,1762/Itemid,35/

I'm currently using tufat flashchat (5$ script)
      www.tufat.com/s_flash_chat_chatroom.htm
It has also a plugin for Joomla+CB.

Regarding your "how do you move module positions" question, you can't move modules' positions. It depends on template you're using. You can add your own modules' positions though.

      ;)
