Menu item manager

Hi
I am starting to convert my rather large website over to Joomla www.webbritain.co.uk (still on old website)
I already have many items (articles) and there will be hundreds more which leads me to ask a question.
Am i right in asumming that in Menu item manager, the maximum number of published article links allowable under a main heading is ten?
e.g. If I have a main heading called 'Hampshire' and i have 25 articles, I can only publish 10 articles at a time.
- Hampshire
article 1
article 2
article 3
etc
Is there a way to increase the number of published articles or is this fixed by Joomla and cannot be changed?

Can you explain some more David, perhaps I am not understanding your query correctly.

I am experimenting using the Synapse 1.5 template on another site

The menu item in question is, courier services. I can only show ten items at a time. When i add another one it drops one of the former ones out of the menu.

VERY STRANGE :
I tried most of yesterday afternoon without success but i have just managed to add another item.
The only difference is that yesterday i was copying and adapting another item from the same menu whereas tonight I used a new one.
I simply have no idea why it would not work yesterday but there you go, that's how it is sometimes.
