    • I need main menu to look the same for guests and registered users, but all the menu items to be linked to completely diferent content items for depending on login status (or have some of the menu items to be different for guests and registered users). I have built a new "mainmenu_r" which is the same as "mainmenu" except for all the links of the 'mainmenu' linked to public content items and same name links of the 'mainmenu_r' linked to registered content items. (thats just some industry reports - which are intro reports for guests and complete reports for registered users).

      I thought is should work, but in Chromophore template I'm using (main menu is in the right colomn) I have both main menus appear one after another since the colomn getting filled with unlimited number of module blocks. So I'm lookin for the way to have the public "mainmenu" to disapear when register user logs in and the same place to be replaced with "mainmenu_r" instead of having both displayed.

      Also I do not have to use a main menu and instead to place those link on some other additional meue in the left colomn for examle, and have it diferent for guests and regtistered users. Or I can expand users menu with those additional links for registered users, however still.. how I can make sure that othermenu visible for guests will not show anymore when user logged in?

    • If you have a budget for it, try www.ninjoomla.com/index.php?option=com_c...view&id=22&Itemid=44

      Note:
      1.) It is a commercial extension, and requires membership.
      2.) I have a commercial interest in Ninjoomla, and may be biased, but that is the cleanest, simplest method I know.

      Now for a different way to achieve almost the same thing, but that which will not cost you anything except a tiny bit more time to set up and maintain.

      Look for and download Rockettheme's rokaccess bot. Create a new user module and manually enter all the links.
      Then, surround the group of links you want to show to the public with the rokaccess tags and correct group id's. Do the same with the other group of links, but add the relevant group id's. I assume you can find instructions in the rokaccess download page and in the params. Save and publish.

      Hope that makes sense.

    • Thanks,
      I have checked both of them... for the NinJoomla one I can see any description of how it works ( the Description link - if this is a link does not work - I woul like to read more before getting into something - just to make sure i will understand the instructions.. :) )

      {{{{However, for Rokaccess which I have downloaded and installed I only see how to hide the parts of the text of the content items using text tags defining the groups restricted or allowed. Is it a way to do the same thing with modules as you described in your post:
      "... Create a new user module and manually enter all the links. Then, surround the group of links you want to show to the public with the rokaccess tags and correct group id's. Do the same with the other group of links, but add the relevant group id's...." Is it possible to "surround" menu links or whole menu module with those tags in some of the Joomla files? or you talk about html links in the front page in the body of the content item? }}}}

      Just to complete that forum: I have clarification from Adny Miller, creator of Rokaccess - Rokaccess mambot only owrks on content, not on mudules! But it works perfect, an for my current website I really do not need to manipulate modules.

      Thanks for great lead!

    • I have it done dividing the front page content into two sections and have one part taged for guest only and the other for all regostered users, but not guests.

      But for a future use I really would love to know the way to manipulate the menu items, or modules the same way. If there is anywhere an access to complete instructions can read for the NinJoomal extention yuou recomended?
