    Joomla and vBulletin

Posted 16 years 9 months ago
    • Hi pals.

I want to ask you 2 questions.

The first one is how can I make a bridge between Joomla and vBulletin? I have heard about some utilities but I don't know which one is better.

The second question is also related to Joomla and vBulletin. In some websites, when something is published, in the home only appears the first paragraph or the first words of it with a read more link. That link takes you to the forum where you can find the complete "article". How can I do it (automatically).

I hope you can help me.
      Thanks to all.

PD: I am using Hyperion Theme

    • FireBoard has a similar feature ( discuss bot )
The Discuss Bot enables your users to discuss content items in the forums. The Content Title is used as the topic subject.
If a topic does not exist yet a new one is created. If the topic already exists, the user is shown the thread and (s)he can reply

      Just a head's up...

Quote from their site (emphasis is there's):

"Also, Fusion is an alpha release, intended to get feedback from the Joomla community. JFusion should not be used on production sites at this stage."

I have no affiliation with jFusion. I do hope it succeeds, but it looks like it's not (yet) ready for primetime.

    • I agree with you, Testing 123.

I want to buy vBulletin licence this week... so I need to solve this problem fast.

      Anybody has another idea?

    • I'm currently using J-vb bridge from Elearningforce . It also works with CB.
      Some features:
      - Just one login, you can choose where to login (joomla or vb),
      - if you change psw in CB it will change in VB and viceversa,
      - Primary VB and CB fields association.

and hopefully developers will ad some new features in the coming weeks/months when CB 1.2 will be released to the public.

If you don't care for CB, you can always use bridge from BBpixel.

      ;)

      P/S: my 100th post ;D

    • Sorry for the delayed reply. :)

You can go for a quick review of the JFusion VB bridge against BBPixel and elearningforce and you shall be able to decide pretty soon. ;)

P.S: GPL software always rocks. Just the reason why you are using Joomla! instead of subdreamer or anything else. ;)

Underneath the text editor box in the backend, you'll find a Pagebreak button. Put your cursor where you want the pagebreak to be in the article and click on that button. You'll see a horizontal line appear in the text editor box (it won't appear on the frontend). That will break the article at that point and insert the "Read more ..." message.
