Choose your provider carefully, it can have serious consequences.
I live in Australia and even I have come across a lot of complaints against Go Daddy on the web.
We have one of those cheap hosting providers here too, very popular, very cheap, and buying up every other host in the country and getting bigger by the day, and the web is full of complaints about them and their wake of destruction, bad attitudes and customer neglect and abuse.
Personally, I chose the highest quality host I could find, and I feel 100% secure in everything about my site.

- I, for one, was very satisfied with GoDaddy's quality of service. The only complaint I might have is that they "Over-sell" their shared-hosting and it can leave a website lagging and as slow as christmas. After I upgraded to a dedicated IP address, I absolutely had no problems and was VERY satisfied with the speed.

I've tried this hosting package a few times. The advantages are the bandwidth, space, and Private SSL. However, every time I tried to host "multiple domains", I could not get it to work as I expected. Every domain name I added would take me to the main site/domain, working like a redirect instead of its own site. Maybe I was configuring something wrong or maybe that's how its supposed to work.
If I only wanted to host a single site, and don't need access outside that site's folder (for securing downloads, etc) then I would go with them again (and just might, considering my current host has kinda pissed me off today). - "I've got a theory: it could be bunnies."

did you try the DNS manager an define which web-address points to which sub-folder?

Yep, I'll be the first to admit it was most likely my fault.
I'm not sure how it is on a dedicated account, but with the shared plans the multi-domain setup is a bit vague.
