That one's a personal preference, but I prefer HG's setup and Whmap. I've no issues with any of my clients, and I haven't had one issue from any of my clients, regarding the setup I've gotten from Hostgator.
I've never had any IP issues, never had any blockage issues, or any other repercussion from the adult side of HG, but I will tell you it's come in handy the few times I had to work with Adult-esque clients.
Yea, having 999 neighbors hosting porn and having our IP range blocked was an afterthought.
(not that there's anything wrong with porn).
I strongly recommend a VPS over shared hosting, especially for Joomla sites.
Your account behaves like a dedicated server, and is not affected by other sites like reseller hosting is. Also you get root access to Linux which is invaluable for full site management.
When you get it, if you want to set me up with a little space for a few days, I'll do the same and we could clone one of our sites, stick it on the other host, then run some good controlled test to check for speed and handling.
Hey guys! I'm also interested here?
Did any of you guys test out the speed between Rochen and Gatorhost?
What's the verdict here?
I really want to know. I used to use Rochen and never really had any issues. The only issue I had was when I learned that SEO on Google is highly dependent where your servers are located at. It was really unfortunate that their servers were not in the same country that I was in. But Rochen were all cool and friendly and they understood the issue and didn't even charge me for my last invoice!!!
Now to performance... I have no idea? Is there a sole champion when it comes to server performance?
From what I know... it seems that Rochen is a bit more expensive than Gatorhost (for resellers) but Rochen deals with their own servers. Gatorhost uses someone else's.
Both are green but Rochen doesn't really put any detail besides saying their servers use carbon off setting. GH uses wind power...
If anyone can add here their own opinions/comments, for rochen vs. gatorhost... that would be awesome!
